Del Taco - Big Fat Crispy Bacon Ranch Chicken Taco

Not enough nouns and adjectives in this menu item THERE DEFINITELY NEEDS FIVE MORE.  Del Taco continues to give free coupons - I get free food, and more reviews.  No, Tacographics  does not get any other additional benefits from this chain, but hell, they should give me FREE DEL TACO FOR LIFE JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT. 
This BIG FAT taco is reminiscent of the Bacon Club Chalupa from Taco Bell. Not exactly the same ingredients, but both are really good. 

Pros:

- Lives up to the BIG FAT name - loaded with ingredients
- Lots of crispy bacon bits
- Surprisingly not greasy

Neutral:

- Ranch doesn't get in the way but doesn't add much either
- Bacon flavor a bit overwhelming

Cons:

- Not white meat chicken strips
- Texture of the bacon with the other textures is kinda awkward for a couple bites

Del Taco - Crispy Shrimp Taco

Wanted to try this to compare with their fish taco .  The difference between the two is the slight spicy aftertaste and different tortilla (this one has flour).  Both have a cabbage blend and generic tomato salsa.  I'm not a fan of shrimp raw, but fried, hell, I'll eat it.  I'm not sure which I prefer, I do like the kick this one has to it, but at the same time I don't.  It's weird, but of course you'd know I'm weird if you're a Tacographics vet.  By the way, first person who gets a (visible) Tacographics logo tattoo will be my favorite person by default.  I will buy you tacos and maybe other things.

CHICKEN TACO SALAD SHOWDOWN - Taco Bell vs. Del Taco

I've been to both of these places countless times, but have not tried these items until NOW.  Let's get down to BUSINESS.  I got no sour cream on both.

Taco Bell's salad was bottom-ed with rice and beans. As I recall the beans had some red sauce on them.  The stem-y taco bell lettuce was ample on this salad (no shit, it's a salad).  The grilled chicken was the salty white meat chicken I've grown accustomed to, along with tomatoes and cheese.  I didn't touch the ranch it came with because it was like liquid fat, and the chips were like a thicker, crappier Tostito's.  Taco Bell's chips are bad.

Del Taco's salad was about a dollar cheaper.  It did not contain any rice (Del Taco is really weird about rice, barely any of their menu items have it), but the other ingredients were similar.  The beans were red sauced, there was less lettuce than the Taco Bell salad (not as stem-y too), the chicken is not white meat but tasty;  a little too salty perhaps.  The tomatoes were standard, but paired with the guacamole sauce it created a good combo.  The salad as you can see was contained in a flour tortilla shell.

Del Taco - Value Bean and Cheese Burrito

Made a stop over at Del Taco a few days ago for some chicken soft tacos and got one of these to review.  The one thing I've never really liked about bean and cheese burritos is having them as the main part of the meal. When it comes to mexican food, you need a lot of textures.  Beans + tortilla is great with other ingredients but alone it is not enough.  Especially when you'd need to eat a shit-ton of both to be satisfied.

Tl;dr - this burrito thrives because it is more of a complement to a meal rather than the focus. 49 cents for a soft taco-sized burrito with just the right amount of beans (which kill taco bell's beans in terms of taste), a little cheese, and a green sauce (which I've found out is a lot better than red sauce).

Del Taco Fish Taco

Something I have never dared to eat has been a fish taco because, well, I am not fan of fish or cabbage or sauce. People have told me they love them and suggest I give them a shot.  So I did, and I can safely say they are something I would have again.

Separately, I have no use for the core of the taco (fish, sauce, cabbage), but together, along with the pico de gallo, the flavors and textures are enjoyable.  I didn't even touch the lime because the tacos were already full of flavor.  I usually hate sauce on tacos because not only is it superfluous most of the time, but it creates a mess.  Only the latter rings for true for the white sauce on these tacos, without it they would be a little dry.  In conclusion, I welcome the fish taco universe to my palate and readers (all two of you) can expect future fish taco reviews.

Del Taco Shredded Beef Burrito

Probably the most expensive item I buy at Del Taco, the shredded beef burrito is $2.59.  I got it with no green sauce (I might try it with it sometime).  It has a light amount of beans, cheese, and is composed mostly of the shredded beef.  Since anything with meat is automatically the determining factor in a review, I'll talk about it.  It's my preferred style of meat over carne asada most of the time because it's more consistent.  It's usually more tender, has a better texture and combined with beans = excellent.

The burrito is small, to be expected.  I've gotten big shredded beef burritos at local places before at about $6.  You pay for what you get.  Pretty much it costs about $5 to get full at a chain taco place, and about $6 or $7 at local places because they have higher costs. GETTING BACK ON TOPIC, the only con about this burrito is it is pretty dry.  I used a little hot sauce on it which helped.

Del Taco

After picking up my brother from school, we usually go over to Del Taco and get a shit-ton of food for cheap.  Today we split 3 Classic Tacos, 2 chicken soft tacos (no sauce), 2 crunchy tacos, and 2 soft tacos w/ beans instead of beef.  Grand total : $7.16. 

First, the classic tacos.  These are thee holy grail of americanized fast food tacos in terms of price, taste, and quanity.  Basically it's a regular taco w/ a lot more beef and cheese, and some tomatoes.  I LOVE this shit.  Probably the best way to spend a dollar I can think of.

 The regular tacos are discounted at 39 cents (usually they're 59) for that price I could probably eat here everyday if I wanted but nah.  They're nothing amazing but for the extra change I'd upgrade to CLASSIC

Now onto the soft tacos.  The relatively newish thing I do now is get beans instead of beef at Taco Bell and Del Taco on soft tacos, the texture of beans w/ letttuce and cheese combined with the tortilla is pretty smooth.  I sound like that wideload Adam Richmond (I think I'll review the show Man vs. Food soon) but it's true.  For 39 cents hell yeah, I didn't get a picture of them but got a pic of the chicken tacos (which are 99 cents) since they look exactly the same.

I'm eating a chicken taco as I type this, they're always flavorful but not really something to get every time.  No sauce of course, cause sauce FUCKING SUCKS.
